Antique clocks have long since been stellar performers at auction, particularly antique longcase clocks, mantle clocks and other timepieces by some of the best makers, including Tompion, Frodsham, Dent, Eardley Norton, Edward East, George Graham, Jaegar LeCoultre and Breget.

Examples of 17^th century clocks, known as the 'Golden Age' of clockmaking and widely acclaimed as a revolutionary period in horology, are particularly highly sought after. Both modern and vintage clocks have the additional benefit of appealing to investors due to their exemption from Capital Gains Tax.
