Cheffins has achieved its highest-grossing Jewellery, Silver & Watches sale to date, when the auction hosted on 30th April 2026 fetched £596,000. The landmark auction saw 456 lots of antique and pre-owned pieces go under the hammer, achieving an exceptional sale rate of over 97 per cent and setting a new benchmark for the firm’s specialist sales.
The sale was further differentiated by a high-profile collaboration with Jessica Diamond, Jewellery & Watch Editor at The Sunday Times Style, helping to attract 47 new buyers and expand the audience for the category. Competitive bidding from both private collectors and trade buyers drove strong prices across all sections.
Leading the sale was a 20th century pink topaz and diamond brooch, which achieved £38,000, nine times its pre-sale estimate of £4,000. This was followed by an early 20th century sapphire and diamond cluster ring, selling for £28,000, seven times its estimate. A single row of natural saltwater pearls also performed strongly, realising £15,000. The jewellery on offer saw an international audience, with sales throughout Europe, America, India and Singapore.
The watches category saw equally notable results, led by an IWC Schaffhausen Pilot’s Mark XII wristwatch, which sold for £2,400 to a private collector. In the silver section, a William IV silver teapot and stand significantly exceeded expectations, achieving £1,900 against an estimate of £600–£800.
