The Present State of the Jews: (More Particularly Relating to those in Barbary) Wherein is Contained an exact Account of their Customs, Secular and Religious. London: by J.C. for William Crooke, at the Green Dragon without Temple-Bar; and to be sold by John Courtney Bookseller in Sarum, 1675, 8vo, 1st edition, engraved frontispiece, woodcut initials and headpieces, some old ink underlinings and very occasional marginal notes, light age toning, a few corner creases, some slight cropping at head to a few leaves, disbound (one later board loose) [ref. Wing A526]

⁂ Rare first edition of this close and careful study of Jewish life and customs. Joseph Addison served seven years as chaplain of the garrison in Tangiers, during which time he became interested in the customs and habits of the Jewish community there.
