A pair of Chinese Canton vases and covers, Qing Dynasty, mid-19th century

of rectangular section, the covers with finials as maidens drinking tea, richly decorated overall with Manchu palace scenes, against a bird and flower ground, each shoulder with projecting lotus dais and maidens holding lotus stems

Condition Report
Rubbing to the gilding on the figurative finial. Chip to the inner rim of the cover. Rubbing to the gilding and enamel in places. Losses to the figurative handles. Small chip to rim of the body. 

The head and hands  of the other finial is completely broken and missing. One of the corners of the cover has been nroken and glued with subsequent losses. One of the handels is missing and the other is missing the head and hands. A chunk of the corner of the footrim is missing.
