The Fine Sale

  Lot 601

601

Two Victorian truncheons

with painted decoration, the first bearing the Royal crest and initials 'V.R' (43cm); the second with 'Supt V.R Chelsea' (45cm)

Provenance:
Property of the late Gabriela Grillo

Sold for £170

Condition Report
There is significant paint loss to the 43cm truncheon, especially to the upper section where the black paint has rubbed off completely in areas, showing the base wood underneath. The crown also has significant rubbing and paint loss. There are numerous indentiations to the truncheon which again, highlights the base wood underneath. The handle is stbale and has consistant colouring.

The 45cm truncheon has far less paint loss to the surface, but still examples of paint loss, mainly to the red upper section and on the initials and 'Chelsea'. Again, there are examples of indentations on the wood from contact. This also applies to the handle.
