Oil on canvas which appears to be unlined. The canvas is coming loose from the stretcher and the tension is poor, leading to undulations across the surface. The paint layer has a network of age cracks, some of the edges are becoming raised, leading to paint losses. There are scattered areas of blistered and flaking paint and some localised wrinkling. Old losses are present at the edges of the painting which have been overpainted. A very yellowed varnish layer is present.
