Condition Report

Oil on canvas which has been lined. The painting has a red ground which gives the painting a dark tone overall. The red ground is apparent in areas of wear and abrasion. This is slightly confused by residues of old varnish which have become opaque over time, giving the painting a slightly mottled appearance in areas. Overpaint is present along the edges of the painting and in localised areas across the surface. The upper varnish layer is clear and even with a few light scuffs.
