the first by James Fenton & Co, Birmingham 1922, of rectangular form with sprung hinged lid and strike to the base, decorated with bright cut engraving around a symmetrical pattern of panels, lap set with bloodstone, cornelian and agate, verso plain and polished; the second by Joseph Cook & Son, Birmingham 1905, similar in design, the front with engraved scrolls around a thistle motif set with green and amber coloured hardstones, verso again plain and polished, the cover with a suspension ring 1.8ozt gross

Condition Report
These two vestas have come from an extensive private collection and are in truly exceptional condition.
There is some very light surface scratching to the hardstones, and a fine hairline crack in one of the bloodstones, but only visible under a loupe.
Verso, there are some very light dust scratches to the silver as to be expected.
