William Hovell was knighted at Whitehall on 6th June 1660 and married on 5th April 1661 Ethelreda, daughter of Thomas Lilly. Their second daughter, Dorothy (d.1724) married circa 1682 Martin ffolkes (1640-1705) as his second wife.
