Condition Report

Oil on canvas which has been lined. The canvas is in plane with good tension. Some mould has formed on the reverse of the canvas. The paint layer has a network of age cracks, in some areas these are slightly raised, but overall the paint layer is in a stable condition. There are areas of overpaint at the edges of the painting and possibly more lying beneath the varnish. The varnish has degraded and lost saturation in areas, it has slightly darkened and yellowed with a layer of dust across the surface. There are a few losses to the gilded surface of the frame.
