A Georgian garnet memorial brooch

of oval form with a central vacant glazed compartment lined with woven red material, surrounded by ten oval faceted garnets set with central split pearls, from 6.6 to 8.5mm in length, closed back settings, pierced scroll border with carved decoration, length 5cm, width 4.6cm, pin and hook fitting with a safety chain, unmarked, tested as 9ct gold, weight 15.3g
