The following four lots (233-236) are early works by John Cox Dillman Engleheart which are based on paintings by Sir Joshua Reynolds. Aged fourteen, Engleheart entered the studio of his uncle, George Engleheart, whose own copies of the same compositions by Reynolds are recorded (see D. Mannings and M. Postle, Sir Joshua Reynolds: A Complete Catalogue of his Paintings, New Haven and London, 2000, see nos. 2071, 2061, 2013, 2031).
