A Chinese carved white jade ornament, Lingjiatan, Culture (circa 3800-3300 BCE)

as an abstract human head and shoulders, with flat top crown, slit mouth, and angled ears, of white jade with grey patchy skin,
3cm x 2.8cm wide

Provenance:
By repute originally owned by the Wadmore Family.
James Wadmore (4th October 1782 - 24 December 1853)
Acquired by the current owner in Australia circa 1980

The Lingjiatan Culture (c 3800-3300 BCE): A neolithic culture in the lower Yangtze in Huai in Anhui. This piece would originally have had a full body - having influence from the Hongshan Culture.
