A Chinese, Hongshan Culture (Neolithic period ca. 3800-2700 BCE) black stone abstract human figure

with pointed chin and circular eyes, with long hair to forward held hands, 7.6cm x 3.7cm wide; a small arched and pierced ornament, with carved comb-edge decoration, 2.8 x 4.6cm

By repute originally owned by the Wadmore Family.
James Wadmore (4th October 1782 - 24 December 1853)
Acquired by the current owner in Australia circa 1980

Hongshan Culture: Neolithic peoples living in what is now Liaoning Province/Inner Mongolia.Tomb and temple excavations have revealed a complex and sophisticated attention to carved stone zoomorphic/animal-shape objects similar to this example.
