The hairstyle and dress in the present portrait suggest a likely execution date of circa 1850-60. While the smooth brushwork on the skin of the sitter is closely comparable with similar portraits by Winterhalter, certain stylistic elements are more reminiscent other artists in his circle such as Friedrich von Amerling (1803-1887).
