The painting is executed in oil on a canvas support which has been lined. The canvas tension is good and the picture is in plane. The paint layer is stable and secure. The texture of the canvas is evident in the paint layer due to the thin paint passages but exacerbated by the lining. Areas of retouching are finely executed and over cracks and small areas of wear. The retouching is slightly matte in appearance but acceptable overall. The varnish is matte and yellowed with a few fly spots and surface dirt present.
