A fine and rare Leeds pottery horse, circa 1825

in white pearlware with underglaze black mane, tail and hooves, its bridle picked out in orange with tiny blue florets, standing with its head turned to the right, on a flat green base edged with puce husks and with chamfered corners and a moulded frieze of stiff leaves around the edge

Condition Report

Typical glaze crazing which is more evident to the neck and rear of the horse. There is one chip to the footrim at the front and two at the rear with some small niggles. There is an area (approx 1 inch) to the footrim at the rear which is is quite rough to the touch with slight brown staining - possibly a factory fault or retouching but no fluorescing under UV light
