A US Civil War era Light Cavalry sabre by Emerson and Silver, Trenton, NJ, dated 1865
with 89cm single edge double fuller blade, with "U.S., A.D.K, 1865" on the reverse ricasso and "EMERSON & SILVER, TRENTON, N.J." on the obverse, the brass two-branch guard with helmet pommel and brass wire wrapped leather grip, the iron scabbard with two suspending bands
Operating out of Trenton, New Jersey, James Emerson entered the sword business in 1810 and partnered up with Joseph Silver from 1860 to 1865 to produce blades on a military contract.
