Born in London, Michael Gordon Brockway was educated at Stowe School and Peterhouse, Cambridge. After World War II, Brockway studied under Simon Bussy (1870-1964) in France. After deciding to take up painting professionally, he pursued his studies at the Ruskin School of Drawing, Oxford, and Farnham School of Art.
