The painting is executed in oil on a linen canvas support which has not been lined. On the reverse of the canvas, is a build-up of cobwebs and dust. The canvas tension is good and the picture is in plane. The paint layers are in a good, stable condition overall. A few scuffs and losses are present in the lower corners.

The painting is under glass and the signature does not appear to be strengthened.

The frame does appear to be period to the piece. There are areas of chipping around the edges and some cracking to the plaster designs.
