Two handwritten letters and a postcard, Fryern Court, Fordingbridge, Hants, to Gigi Richter. The two letters, dated 13 March 1946 and 18 October 1946, relate to Gigi cleaning some paintings by Gwen John - 'I expect to be in London shortly and would like very much to call and see the progress of the work you are doing on my sister's paintings'.
Although Augustus John does not refer to the paintings by their titles, Richter is known to have been commissioned by The Tate to clean Gwen John’s Young Woman With a Black Cat (c.1920 – 5), which they purchased in 1946.
