An emerald, seed pearl and filigree brooch circa 1840 with hairwork compartment

of oval outline with scrolling and foliate edge holding a textured ground, above which appear to float filigree work flowers and fruits, set to the centre with a cut corner step cut emerald and at the diagonals with four seed pearls, the back with glazed compartment holding curled hairwork from two heads, one ash blonde, the other chestnut with salt-and-pepper streaks; length 3.9cm
