A group of six jade beads, China, Liangzhu Culture, circa 3300-2300 BCE

one waisted tubular example carved with four taotie masks 3.2cm long 1.4cm diameter
the plain ovoid beads ranging 2cm to 1.2cm

Provenance:
By repute, originally owned by the Wadmore Family
James Wadmore (4th October 1782 - 24 December 1853)
Acquired by the current owner in Australia circa 1980

The Liangzhu Culture: Yangtze River Delta. Considered the last Chinese neolithic jade culture - with tombs yielding jade, silk, ivory and lacquer. The archaeological ruins of Liangzhu City are in Yuhang district, Hangzhou, Zhejiang.
