PARKINSON (John)

Theatrum Botanicum, The Theater of Plantes, or an Universall and Compleate Herball. London: Tho: Cotes 1640, folio, additional woodcut title with old hand colour, final errata leaf at end (strengthened), very occasional contemporary neat ink notes to text, profusely illustrated, binding tight, mid 20th century tan calf

Sold for £1,300

Condition Report

Engraved title with old colour and slightly trimmed down at head. A few illustrations in the text have old colour; on p.271 a small area has slightly stuck to the next leaf with a small portion torn away (but this bit is present, as indeed stuck to the next leaf - see image).
There is a little offsetting and/or bleeding through from the old colouring as it occurs.
Collation has 20pp. including both titles, before main text, which then collates without loss of leaves; (p.129 has slight text loss at repair near gutter). Occasional contemporary marginal notes in English or mostly Latin. A few strengthening or repair strips neatly applied without loss to text. Light spotting/staining to final index leaves. Modern firm binding. Images attached give a good general indication. Final leaf is errata leaf.
