French-born ceramicist, Robert Picault, is best-known for his innovative designs and techniques. His vibrant, abstract creations are characterised by bold colours and playful forms. Picault's connection with Picasso began in the 1940s when the two artists met in Vallauris, a town in the south of France renowned for its pottery. Picault was inspired by Picasso's ingenuity and experimentation with form and colour - an influence that is evident in his own ceramic creations.
